Healthy Women, Healthy Communities

We believe improving women's health and skills in South Sudan will result in healthy and better communities. With regards to the long civil war, current civil unrest, women's illiteracy rate and poverty in the country, we are pursuing a long and tough journey to provide basic health services and improve literacy rates.

South Sudan has the highest maternal mortality rate in the world with over 2,054 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births. Over 25% of children die from common preventable and neglected childhood illnesses before they reach their fifth birthday. Female literacy rate is only 16% and this has an enormous impact on the health, food production, education, politics and other social issues.

Your donation will help in the construction of Akot Medical Clinic in South Sudan, purchase and transport of medicines, birthing kits and rehydration salts. The clinic will also require clean drinking water, a generator for lighting and running of cold medicines and vaccines. Athiolget Women's and Children's Health Association will also run Praziquantel and immunizations programs in Ruweng State, South Sudan to ensure reduction in the negative impacts of schistosomiasis and other diseases.
