ATOM's vision is to offer all those wishing to utilise Australian made content as an education tool, access to the best and most complete library of resources across all curricula and interests whether on our sites or through referral to others.
Our mission is to to be a responsive, dynamic and up-to-date, to be a user friendly portal to high-quality material that reflects the scope and depth of Australian made content, across all cultural activities.
ATOM TOUCHES, ENRICHES AND ENLIVENS THE WORLD OF TEACHERS, AND THEIR STUDENTS, ACROSS THE COUNTRY, IN EVERY SUBJECT AND AT EVERY AGE. We speak weekly to a loyal database of over THIRTY FIVE THOUSAND (35,000) teachers and their more than 1 million students, and we do that throughout the full school year, every year.
ATOM (Australian Teachers of Media) is a not for profit with full charitable status. We have been servicing Australian school teachers and their students for more than 60 years. We have published Australia’s longest running screen review magazine METRO and Screen Education for most of that time and we ran the highly regarded ATOM AWARDS and Schools Competitions for 40 years and our EDUCATION SHOP has now been operating for close to 20 years.
This is all built on the principle of supporting Australian made screen, media, arts, cultural and educational content, the producers, and their works, and to share that as widely as possible with our children, and their teachers, as they teach and learn.
We have done this, for our entire history, with very little government support.
ATOM seeks your support to continue DELIVERING OUR INVALUABLE SERVICE TO ALL OUR TEACHERS AND THEIR STUDENTS.
We offer an EXTRAORDINARY range of Australian made digital and physical education resources across all curriculum subjects.
OUR PUBLIC TOUCHPOINT is The Education Shop. The Shop houses one of the largest collections, in the Southern Hemisphere, of digital and physical educational resources covering Australian made screen media, arts, cultural and educational content. We offer books, DVDs, streaming content and the highly regarded and valued ATOM Study Guides to support the use of AUSTRALIAN made content in classrooms from primary and secondary to tertiary.
We also connect with industry professionals and community groups. We do this across Australia and around the world.
ATOM also ran three annual creative media competitions for Australian schools/students in film, photography and writing. We love supporting the talents and work of students and emerging artists. (Due to funding constraints, ATOM will be taking a break WITH THE AIM OF RETURNING IN 2025 WITH BOTH THE ATOM AWARDS AND SCHOOLS' COMPETITIONS)
AS WE STEP UP TO THE FUTURE we are developing new markets and relationships, growing our institutional partnerships, streamlining our on-line presence and accessibility and amplifying our offer.
We are a small operation run a by a dedicated team of professionals, supported by a highly knowledgeable volunteer board. All our passions are to service the education sector and service it well.
We now have key partnerships with major national screen Institutions such as, ACMI (Australian Centre for Moving Image), ACMI Education and ACMI X, The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts – AACTA, DocPlay, Fan-Force Classroom and The Australian Childrens Television Foundation, Screenrights, Screen Australia and ClickView.
And we are working to extend our partners, all built on the principle of supporting Australian made content and to share that as widely as possible with your children, and their teachers, as they teach and learn.
