About this cause

Help Us Keep Auburn Youth Centre Open

For nearly 40 years, the Auburn Youth Centre (AYC) has been a lifeline for disadvantaged young people in Western Sydney, offering a safe space, guidance and essential resources to help them thrive.

In the last 5 years we have supported over 9000 young people, aged 12-24, and their families. Our training cafe has helped 500 young people get their first job. We have provided food assistance to over 400 families and counselling and mentoring to over 1000 youth. We provide free sport, music, recreational and educational programs to those who cannot afford them.  We are a safe place to gather, make friends and develop the skills to have a successful future.  Most of those we assist are living in poverty, many have fled from war torn countries and far too many are struggling with mental health issues.

After almost four decades of making a real difference in our community, AYC is at risk of closing its doors. Expenses are skyrocketing and government funding only provides 60% of our required income. Without new funds we will have to cut programs, with our training cafe the first to feel the cut.  This would be devastating for the young people who rely on our services and the families we support. It would also be devestating for the community. We are one of only two youth centres in our region. We support young people from across Western Sydney , places for safe gahthering are essential for the wellbeing of comunity.

A donation will help AYC to remain open and give young people a place to be rather than gathering on the streets. A donation will keep our training cafe open and help a young person get their first job.

We are an independent, charitable organisation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. We create opportunity and build community. AYC is open to all young people, regardless of their cultural, religious, social or ethnic background. We pride ourselves on being inclusive, with a special focus on those most in need – young people who are disconnected from education or work, newly arrived in Australia, the LGBTQI+ community and those struggling with mental health challenges.

Our programs offer more than just support; they offer a chance for a brighter future. From individualised support to free activities that foster a sense of belonging, we help young people navigate the many challenges they face. We break down barriers like language, economic disadvantage and prejudice, helping them build pathways to a positive, healthy future.

A donation to AYC can fund the Counsellor who helps a young person through depression and suicidal thoughts. It could be the $$ that puts a computer in front of a child and allows them to do homework and want to go to school.

AYC needs your support now more than ever. Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps us keep our doors open and our programs running for the young people who need us most.

Please, consider donating today. It's tax deductible. Help us stay open and to make a difference in young peoples lives.

Thank you
