Babana has been instrumental in running campaigns that help unite and affirm the positive values of traditional Aboriginal culture, focusing on healing together to create a safe and hopeful community.  Over that time, Babana membership has grown continuously, continuing to obtain endorsement and respect from both the Aboriginal and non Aboriginal community. Babana members meet regularly and are involved in a variety of activities and programs that address a range of issues ranging from men’s health, through to family relationships, anti-violence, anti-drug and alcohol campaigns, post release programs and more.

In addition to regular meetings and workshops, these include: 

• The annual suicide prevention awareness day 

• The annual colored diggers march 
• The monthly mens group meetings 
• The annual awareness raising days for domestic violence and caring 
• The anual forum for Indigenous economic development and entrepeneurship 

How will the funds be used?

Fund will be used to further expand our programs that focus on empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to be all the can be as well as promote halth social programs, as well as economic development initiatives. 

Key areas of expenditure

Funds collected will provide:

• Suicide prevention awareness 
• Developing the local jobs market for Indigenous candidates 
• Health promotion to end smoking amongst Indigenous people 
• Community awareness for help seeking 
• Community awareness around ending domestic violence
