About this cause

Belvoir is one of Australia's most innovative and acclaimed theatre companies. We engage the country's most prominent and promising playwrights, directors, actors and designers to present an annual artistic program that is razor sharp, popular and challenging. We have always had, and will continue to have, a commitment to supporting Australian playwrights. We have a strong Indigenous theatre development program and the Company has a long history of working with Indigenous directors, designers and actors portraying unique indigenous stories.

We are committed to providing equal access to our productions as well as offering young people the chance to experience the unique opportunities the theatre can provide. One matinee performance of each production is performed free-of-charge for unwaged members of the community. This unique initiative has been in place for twenty years and ensures that the most financially disadvantaged members of the community are able to attend live theatre performances.

Belvoir believes the experience of live theatre has a major role to play in students' learning. Our Education Program aims to provide students and teachers with greater access to theatre. Belvoir offers schools performances to every Upstairs Theatre production. We offer a range of workshops for students and teachers and provide opportunities for young people throughout NSW to access Belvoir's unique work.

How will the funds be used?

The donations we receive from our generous supporters are allocated towards the projects most in need throughout the year. This support plays a vital role in helping us to create our unique kind of theatre as well as ensuring that it reaches young people and enriches our community.
