Braille is literacy for people who are blind or have low vision. 

Skills such as spelling, grammar and punctuation cannot be learned through other methods like audio. Reading and writing are the fundamentals of education and without these basics, individuals are disadvantaged.

Braille House is a national organisation that teaches Braille and houses a large collection of Braille in our library. Our library membership is up 133% since 2021, with child borrowers alone up by 450% - demand for braille is growing fast. 

During 2025 Braille House produced 134,792 pages braille. This included everything from novels and cookbooks to menus for restaurants, business cards, and even twin vision books that allow sighted and braille readers to read together.

We offer a free lending library of braille books, tactile resources, and Moon making us one of only a few organisations in Australia and the world to offer this.
