About this cause

Years ago, Tiana participated in the Braille Literacy Challenge as a student.

Today, she is studying at university, speaks multiple languages, borrows books from the Braille House Library, and has returned to the Challenge as a judge.

Reflecting on her experience, Tiana said:

"This competition means more to me than you'll ever know. It was such an important part of my childhood and where I met and connected with people who I still talk to every day."

Tiana's story is a powerful reminder of the lifelong impact braille literacy can have.

Braille is Literacy

"Braille is literacy. Imagine if I told you that you could never read a word ever again in your life, that everything from this day onwards had to be done via audio and you were no longer allowed to write ever again."

For children who are blind or have low vision, braille is more than a reading format.

It supports spelling, grammar, comprehension, confidence and independence. It gives children the opportunity to develop literacy skills that will support them throughout their lives.

Every child deserves the opportunity to become a confident reader.

A donation today will help Braille House continue empowering young braille readers through access to books, literacy programs and community connection.
