Help Outloud give local stories life through the arts

For over 25 years Outloud has used the arts to address societal and community issues and to develop young people aged 12-25 in South West Sydney. Based at the Bankstown Arts Centre, our work has helped young people engage and explore issues such as multiculturalism, domestic violence, racism, homelessness, social cohesion in the form of musical performances, theatre shows, book publications and various other art forms.

Donating to Outloud allows us to explore our projects to its full potential and helps us support the growth of local artists, the creation of new work and much more. Your donation will help fund resources such as facilitators, workshop related materials and lighting and sound equipment. Your donation helps us to provide opportunities for artists to develop their craft and a platform and infrastructure for young people to make their voices heard through the arts.

We believe the communities from Bankstown and South Western Sydney have plenty to offer through the arts and should be given the chance to do so. Your support, whether through donations, attending our events or participating in our projects makes the work we do possible – so thanks!

By choosing to donate now, you help supports the work that we do which include:

The R.E.S.P.E.C.T Project  - focuses on early intervention in regards to DV (Domestic Violence). The project focuses on targeting primary aged boys and run music workshops with them over a period of 8 to 10 weeks.

COMPACT: Stories of Strength - involved training of cohorts of young local high school students in interviewing friends, family and neighbours who have a story to tell. These stories are then showcased through various platforms such as an open exhibition at a local shopping centre or online. Our aim is to share these inspiring stories of resilience with a bigger audience.

To Be Honest - a theatre production created in collaboration with young people from Canterbury Bankstown through Youth Off the Streets, Bankstown and presented by BYDS. The show examines contemporary stories of cultural displacement, homelessness, cycles of crime and the challenging struggles of some young people living extraordinary lives around the Canterbury Bankstown area.
