We love what we can do together!

Since 2004, CAAP has been dedicated to uplifting Asian Australian artists and fostering a more inclusive theatre industry. We celebrate and amplify Asian Australian experiences, creating pathways for artists and audiences to share in their stories.

In the past year alone, your support has enabled us to:

• take Jane Hutcheon’s Lost In Shanghai on the road, touring to 10 venues across 4 states;
• premiere Rainbow Chan’s The Bridal Lament at Liveworks in Sydney, and present it at Adelaide’s prestigious OzAsia Festival and renowned contemporary arts space Arts House Melbourne;
• run CAAP Artist Lab in Sydney and Adelaide with 14 partner companies, helping local Asian Australian artists grow and thrive;
• host 6 Longhouse gatherings across Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, and Melbourne, connecting our community and leading industry wide discussions;
• travel to Thailand and South Korea to participate in the Asian Producers’ Platform, Performing Arts Market Seoul and Busan Performing Arts Market, key markets in the Asia Pacific region.

But we still have work to do!

In 2024, we’re committed to continuing this mission under the leadership of Tessa Leong and Sandi Woo. Our focus remains on addressing the ongoing need for better representation of Asian Australian artists, championing self-determined artist-led practices, and promoting diverse leadership in the sector. We are dedicated to creating more pathways for emerging artists, amplifying new voices on Australian stages, and hosting forums for our community to come together, share knowledge, and drive change.
