Many people older Australians aged 65 and over don’t have any contact with anyone from one day to the next and almost 40% need a hand around the house or getting out and about. This isolation has been linked to mental, emotional and physical decline and risk of elders abuse. But the power to make a difference is in your hands. 
 
The power to change lives and your community is in your hands by doing a simple act of kindness or giving:
 
Connect pick up the phone or pop over. Check in or grab a cuppa with someone. 
Ask if you can help. Get some shopping in, cook a meal, mow a lawn… 
Help someone get out and about. To the beach, the cinema, an art gallery… 
Pay it forward. Pay for someone’s shopping, fuel, coffee… 
Act of GivingDonate. Give your toys, clothes or homewares to Southcare’s Op Shop or a cash donation to help us keep doing the essential work we do. 
Volunteer. Give your time or and expertise to us a local community organisation like Southcare. 
Share the love. Inspire others. Share your act of kindness using #caringhandsday.
