Interchange Western Region is a non profit respite and support service for families who are caring for a child or young adult with a disability living at home. We receive base level government funding and provide regular respite by matching a child with a disability to a volunteer host/ host family, who cares for a child on a regular basis in the volunteers home. Because of the shortage of volunteers, Interchange provides a range of other respite options to provide regular respite for young people on our waiting list. These services are not funded.
Interchange plans to use any funds raised to run camps on school holidays to give carers a break and the young people an opportunity to make new friends, gain peer support, have a break away from home, try new things and have a lot of fun in a caring, supportive environment.
