The CMA Young Artist Award campaign is supported by Creative Partnerships Australia through its Plus 1 Program.

From October 2018 your donation to the CMA Public Donation Fund will be matched dollar for dollar by Creative Partnerships Australia Plus 1 Program for a limited period of time. Please be a CMA Champion and help us double our dollar!

With the CPA Plus 1 support your donation, however large or small, is worth twice as much to us and helps us support young artists now and into the future. $200 is worth $400 to us, $500 is worth $1000 and so on...

This recently launched young artist award provides a cash prize and professional performance opportunities for early career classical instrumentalists and vocalists who are resident in South Australia.

Three outstanding young artists were the finalists for the 2018 award. They performed before a judging panel and an audience of friends, family and music lovers on 6 November 2018. The three outstanding young finalists were Anna Freer (violin), Charlotte Kelso (mezzo soprano) and Aiden Sullivan (viola).

Nicholas Braithwaite, Chair of the judging panel remarked on the importance of awards such as this to early career artists, providing not only a cash prize of $3000 but also invaluable professional performance opportunities. He went on to say all three young finalists had shown remarkable skill and maturity in their performance and it had not been an easy task for the judging panel to choose a winner. He congratulated all three and announced viola player, Aiden Sullivan, as the inaugural CMA Young Artist.

For a limited period, with CPA Plus 1 support, your donation is worth twice the value to CMA>? CPA will match it dollar for dollar, however large or small.

While your donation to the CMA Public Donation Fund must be unconditional you can let us know at the time of donating to which one of our activities you would prefer your support to be directed.

Other CMA activities that can be supported by individual donations include:

  • the provision of Touch Tours for blind and vision impaired patrons to experience CMA's award-winning event On the Terrace. These Touch Tours, by professional audio describers, allow blind and vision impaired patrons to feel the instruments to be played and to discern the different sounds and tones each instrument makes, before enjoying the live performance itself.
  • Taking a version of On the Terrace, to regional South Australia. The costs to do this are significantly more than re-staging the event in and around the cultural boulevard along North Terrace

As a not-for-profit organisation and registered charity, Chamber Music Adelaide needs your help. Donations of $2 and more are tax deductible.

CMA was formed in January 2013 to support the performance of chamber music by seven core organisations – Adelaide Baroque, Ensemble Galante, Kegelstatt Ensemble, Recitals Australia, Soundstream New Music, The Firm and Various People Inc. In addition, it promotes a wider remit of chamber music performers and presenters in South Australia and celebrates Adelaide as a UNESCO City of Music, along with 180 cities in 72 countries worldwide
