Many First Nations communities in Australia continue to live with deep and persistent disadvantage, a situation that is unacceptable and addressable. On nearly every indicator First Nations people in Australia fare worse than other Australians. This impact is inextricably linked to colonisation and the resulting assault on people's cultural life and integrity.
Children's Ground's response to this is as radical as it is simple. Celebrate the Aboriginal world view, honour the longest continuing culture on the planet and trust the talent and wisdom in community. By supporting the learning, wellbeing and development needs of every child and family and staying for 25 years the whole community will shift from devastation to strength in a generation.
We believe children and families who need the most deserve the very best. Our approach is resourced to respond to the trauma, grief, health and development challenges so many children living in poverty experience. By tackling the root causes of extreme disadvantage rather than the symptoms we can end entrenched disadvantage in Aboriginal communities.
