Australian Children's Laureate

$
The Australian Children's Laureate is an award presented every two years to one of Australia's pre-eminent children's authors/illustrators to celebrate their contribution to Australian literature. Our vision is to enrich children's lives through the power of story and develop a culture of reading in Australia.

The Laureate's role is to engage with kids, educators, the public and the media on the importance of reading, as well as advocating for and supporting educators, particularly teacher-librarians. During their appointment the Laureate acts as a national and international ambassador for reading.

Alison Lester and Boori Monty Pryor, the inaugural Laureates' (2012-13) travelled all around Australia inspiring many kids to read and tell their stories.

Jackie French, as our second Children's Laureate (2014-15), has fully embraced her role inspiring many children and families while also supporting educators of literacy.

Give now to our "I'm a Supporter" campaign to secure the future of the Australian Laureate Award so we can build on the momentum and impact of this essential advocacy role for children's literature and literacy. Thank you!

The Laureate Award it administered by the Australian Children's Literature Alliance (ACLA), a national not-for-profit, independent organization dedicated to developing a culture of reading in Australia. We believe that reading changes lives!
