Help children and young adults with CMT feel connected and supported
Since 2012, CMT Australia’s Aussie Kids Program has been creating opportunities for children and young people living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) to connect with others who truly understand their experiences.
Living with a rare condition like CMT can sometimes feel isolating, especially for children who may be the only person in their school or community living with the condition. The CMT Aussie Kids Program provides a safe, supportive environment where young people can build friendships, share experiences and discover that they are not alone.
Through annual weekends, regional activities and accessible adventure experiences, children and young people with CMT can participate in activities alongside peers who understand their challenges and strengths. These experiences help build confidence, independence and a sense of belonging. Recently the CMT Aussie Big Kids have added another level to the Program, providing an important place for young adults with CMT.
The program has brought together young people from across Australia, the United Kingdom and New Zealand, providing opportunities to connect, learn from one another and create lifelong friendships.
Feedback from previous camps has included: ‘I love this camp because all the kids are the same as me, and they just 'get it'.
Your donation helps CMT Australia continue providing these important opportunities for children and families affected by CMT. Together, we can ensure that young people living with CMT have a community where they feel understood, included and supported.
