Description
Part of our philosophy at Nundah Community Enterprise Co-operative (NCEC) is to 'pay it forward' and contribute to those doing it tough in the local community.
One way we do this is by participating in the 'Donate a Meal' movement, where one can donate as little as $8 to allow someone to receive a fresh warm meal. In partnership with Red Cross, we serve meals to young people who are homeless or are at risk of being homeless. We do this with dignity, and they know that another person has given it with kindness.
Our team of chefs and trainees from refugee backgrounds are loving the opportunity to create, nourishing meals twice a week for young people who utilise our cafe space in the evening with support of Red Cross’s 'Night Cafe'. We often get messages from the Night Cafe crew like, “Food was a hit! The young people loved it”.
How to Support us:
To support us, all you need to do is donate $8 for a meal (or multiples of $8) and we will provide one free of charge to someone in need (commonly youth who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of being homeless).
How will the funds be used:
Do I receive a receipt for my donation:
Yes, it is immediately sent by email when approved. Donations to NCEC are tax deductible.
About NCEC
About ‘Donate a meal’
‘Donate a Meal’ is inspired by the Turkish goodwill tradition- ‘askıda ekmek’, meaning "bread on a hanger”, which involved paying for 2 breads and leaving 1 for someone who cannot afford it. Not everyone is fortunate enough to cherish a warm fresh meal. A small donation can make someone’s day.
Help support this cause by creating your own 'CrowdRaiser' fundraising page.
