The Dogs' Homes of Tasmania operate three Homes in Burnie, Devonport and Hobart to care for over 5000 dogs that are received each year. Dogs are health and temperament checked, microchipped, vaccinated and desexed before rehoming. The Dogs' Homes receive no recurrent government funding and rely on fundraising, bequests, grants and the generosity of public donations to continue the work they do.
Programs to educate school children on welfare and empathy towards dogs are run as well as a substantial foster care program to ensure the best outcomes for all dogs received.
