Doncare is a multi disciplinary community services organisation that has operated in Melbourne's inner east since 1969. Doncare is part of the fabric of the community, establishing a unique business model predicated on volunteerism. Doncare strives to continue to deliver a holistic model of services to Manningham residents experiencing crisis or disadvantage, as well as foster community connectedness through social support programs and volunteering.
Over 50 years, Doncare has developed a wide range of innovative and successful programs to support the most vulnerable and margilanised residents by addressing emerging needs in the community. Doncare provides counselling for families and children in crisis; prevention, support and recovery following domestic violence; specialist intake and risk assessment; integrated family services; case management; emergency relief; social support for seniors and financial and material aid. Volunteerism makes it possible for Doncare to deliver the range of support services to the community. (34 staff 22.8EFT and 550 volunteers)
Doncare requires diverse, sustainable resources and partnerships to provide the income necessary to maintain service delivery. As the community’s need for support grows, Doncare adapts its service provision accordingly, a process that is becoming increasingly reliant on self generated income and intermittent philanthropic grants.
As Doncare celebrates 50 years serving the community, we encourage you to invest in the health and wellbeing of the community and make a tax deductable contribution to Manningham’s most vulnerable residents through a donation to Doncare. Your contribution will assist:
•Children experiencing post traumatic stress following family violence to attend counselling
•Teens to develop skills to manage anxiety and learn effective behavioural strategies to cope with stress related to family breakdown and family violence
•Women recovering from the ramifications of domestic violence to benefit from therapeutic support groups
•Provide financial and material aid to families and individuals experiencing extreme hardship
•Improve community connectedness of women and children recovering from domestic violence to receive support through the DAWN mentor program
•the frail and elderly to be more independent at home and in the community, thereby enhancing their quality of life and/or preventing inappropriate admission to long-term residential care
•prevent social isolation and provide social and recreational outings for older people with disabilities who are housebound or isolated due to mobility difficulties
