Help Western Sydney’s emerging Flamenco artists take the vital next step from studio training to professional performance.

On AUS ART DAY — Thursday, 22 October 2026 — Creative Australia will match every eligible donation to our campaign dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000.

If our community helps us raise our $5,000 target, the matched funding will double it — creating up to $10,000 of support for emerging artists.

$25 becomes $50.
$50 becomes $100.
$100 becomes $200.
$500 becomes $1,000.

WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS

Talent is developed in the studio, but emerging artists also need mentorship, professional networks and real performance opportunities to build sustainable careers.

Flamenco and other culturally diverse art forms remain underrepresented in mainstream Australian programming. This creates additional barriers for culturally and linguistically diverse young artists, particularly those living in Western Sydney.

Compañía Pepa Molina’s From Studio to Stage initiative will help early-career and emerging artists overcome these barriers through professional development, specialist training, artistic mentorship and performance opportunities.

The campaign will particularly support members of our youth ensemble, Las Flamenkas, as they progress from studio training towards professional artistic practice.

LEARNING TO PERFORM WITH LIVE MUSIC

Live music is at the heart of Flamenco, but opportunities for emerging dancers to train and perform with experienced musicians can be difficult to access.

Working with live musicians develops skills that cannot be fully learned using recorded music alone. Artists must learn to listen, communicate and respond in the moment while developing:

• Musicality and rhythmic understanding

• Improvisation skills

• Confidence and stagecraft

• Communication between dancer and musician

• Collaborative performance practice

• Professional rehearsal and performance experience

Funds raised through this campaign will give emerging artists access to rehearsals, specialist training and mentorship alongside established Flamenco artists and professional musicians.

OUR NEW TABLAO PROGRAM

The project will lead to performance opportunities through Compañía Pepa Molina’s new Tablao program.

A tablao is an intimate Flamenco performance setting where dancers and musicians communicate and respond to one another live onstage. It allows artists to develop spontaneity, musical sensitivity and a genuine connection with fellow performers and audiences.

Through this program, emerging artists will apply their training alongside live musicians in professional and community performance settings.

It is the vital next step between learning in the studio and developing a professional performance career.

OUR IMPACT

For more than 20 years, Compañía Pepa Molina has created pathways for Flamenco artists in Australia.

• More than 50 young women have received training, mentoring and performance opportunities.

• Emerging artists have progressed into professional employment.

• Ensemble members have performed at major events, including Sydney Festival.

• Artists connected with our programs have received international recognition, including success and 1st prize at the prestigious Festival de Jerez competition in Spain.

• Young Western Sydney artists have performed alongside established Australian and international professionals.

In 2025, our generous supporters helped us exceed our AUS ART DAY fundraising target. This year, we are building on that success by creating clearer pathways from training into professional performance.
