Dog Rescue Newcastle rescued 9 puppies from a county pound in NSW and saved them from being put down. Soon after they arrived in foster care in Newcastle they became extremely ill with the often deadly parvo virus. They either had the virus when they arrived at the pound or they contracted it in the pound, but symptoms didn't appear until we brought them to Newcastle.
They were rushed to emergency vets and received intensive treatment to try to save their lives. Sadly, two of the puppies died. Vets are worked around the clock to save the remaining 7 puppies. After nearly 3 weeks at the vets the 7 survivors were well enough to be released and return to foster care. They are quite thin and are receiving five meals per day and lots of loving care.
Now the veterinary bills need to be paid and the cost will be over $15,000 for all the puppies.
We're an entirely volunteer organisation that doesn't receive any government funding. We have saved over 7,000 lives in the 10 years that we've been operating. This vet bill is seriously straining our limited resources and we need to ask for community support.
Thank you very much in advance helping us save these deserving puppies.
These beautiful, extra special puppies will be available for adoption at the end of October 2018. They will finally be able to find their forever homes and have the great life that they deserve so much.
