Unfortunately, for many farming or agricultural families, the impact of drought is a harsh reality. The Bureau of Meterology has reported (in October 2024) that over the last 8-12 months, some areas of Australia are experiencing the lowest ever rainfall on record. Add drier than normal conditions, ongoing lower than average rainfall, and a predicted hot and dry Summer, and the results are devastating. The stories that are already being shared from agricultural communities about the financial and emotional impacts are just heartbreaking.
We are positioned to work both independently, and in partnership with other established charitable and community organisations, to get practical support to drought affected communities. Our shoe boxes of love not only provide valuable hygiene items, they serve as a heartfelt reminder that drought impacted communities have not been forgotten, and that someone cares.
Our first drought run kicked off in November 2024, with our next run Australia Day weekend, and another to follow shortly, but we urgently need your help. We take pride in keeping operational costs - a kind of necessary evil - to an absolute minimum (think lease fees and insurance); however, we simply cannot operate if we are unable to cover these basics.
