Become a founding supporter for Dancehouse Studios Brunswick (DSB).

For more than 30 years, Dancehouse has been dedicated to independent dance in Australia, supporting artists through creative development, residencies, producing, presentation and critical exchange.

Each year, we provide independent artists with the time, space and professional support to develop new work, present performances and connect with audiences and the wider dance sector.

Last year Dancehouse:

• Paid 479 artists directly
• Provided 4,484 hours of free, in-kind space to artists.
• Supported and presented 173 works across performance, development and public programs.
• Welcomed 11,371 audience attendances across Dancehouse programs.

In 2026, we’re expanding that work beyond our Carlton North home with Dancehouse Studios Brunswick: two new dedicated dance studios providing much-needed space for rehearsals, residencies, classes, workshops and creative developments. Located on the Upfield train line/ cycle path, and nearby to Sydney Road (19 tram), these accessible studios are set to be a vital new dance community asset.

Help us lay the groundwork.

To support this expansion, we’re raising $40,000 for Dancehouse Studios Brunswick - the cost of our brand new, custom-made dark oak sprung floor. We have already invested over $80,000 in securing these new spaces, so we're aiming to raise half of that to support the following activities:

• Provide affordable and subsidised studio access for independent artists
• Fund artist residencies and creative development
• Support choreographers to research and develop new work
• Deliver classes, workshops and community programs
• Provide more opportunities for artists to work, rehearse and connect in Melbourne’s north

Dancehouse has spent more than three decades investing in independent artists and the development of contemporary dance. The Brunswick studios allow us to significantly increase the space and resources we can make available to artists.

Donations of any size are tax deductible, and will directly support the work taking place at Dancehouse Studios Brunswick. Every donor in this campaign will be considered a DSB Supporter of Dancehouse Studios Brunswick. 

For those able to contribute at a higher level, larger donations will be recognised on the Dancehouse Studios Brunswick donor wall, engraved in dark oak, acknowledging the people who have significantly helped establish this new space for artists. The three tiers include:

• $2,500 - Floor Founder
• $5,000 - Studio Maker
• $10,000 - Groundbreaker
