Defence Special Needs Support Groups Ltd

The Defence Special Needs Support Group (DSNSG) is a non-profit benevolent volunteer organisation founded to assist Army, Navy, and Air Force families who have a special needs family member.

On 1 January 1994, the International Year of the Family, a small group of Defence families were brought together by a common bond: they all had a family member with special needs and found it difficult to locate appropriate services due to the mobility nature of the Defence life. Instead of going it alone, the families decided that it was easier to help each other out with information and support.

DSNSG has evolved into a well-known national organisation that operates multiple local support groups throughout Australia and overseas with well over 1500 families located both in Australia and Overseas. The Group provides support, information, assistance, advocacy and programs for all ADF families who have a dependent child, spouse or other dependent with special needs.

The DSNSG Inc has two National Co-Patrons, being the Minister for Defence Personnel, Hon Darren Chester MP and the Chief of the Defence Force, General Angus Campbell, AO, DSC.
DSNSG also has an Ambassador, Air Commodore Henrik Ehlers, AM, who joined us after completing 36 years in the Permanent Air Force.

The DSNSG also has Supporting partners that Support our Programs and other services to DSNSG, we rely solely on donations. These are: Australian Military Bank, Defence Health, APS Benefits, Navy Health, Defence Family and Member Support and Toll Transitions.

DSNSG relys on donations to assist with the continued support and programs to our members of the Defence Special Needs Support Group Ltd.
