The Network's role is to source, collect, and house donations of second-hand furniture and other household essentials. These are, in turn, distributed to the not-so-fortunate of the community (free of charge) through member agencies.
As the Network is operated entirely by volunteers and is funded almost entirely by personal donations and contributions from community organisations, we are now seeking the support of the community to make a difference to those in need.
In 2005, in excess of 2,200 individuals and families were assisted. In some cases this may have been with a small box of food, but for others a full house of furniture.
The generally worsening economic situation has resulted in/is expected to result in, an increase in the number of calls for urgent assistance from the EERN emergency aid warehouse.
