Empower Aid Incorporated is an NGO that trains women trapped in poverty and vulnerable circumstances with hairdressing and beauty skills to an international standard.
Today, after 16 years, more than 520 women in rural Bangladesh have graduated from the Empower Aid training college with international skills. Four of the original group now use their skills and knowledge to train others through the college.
A new project began in Timor Leste in April 2019 with around 30 students being trained with internation hair and beauty skills. The graduates of this college have now also become trainers, taking the next groups of students on their studies. The college also allows a salon environment for students to gain workplace skills.
