Our first outdoor enclosure....
When we first planned this project we carefully budgeted every detail. Unfortunately, like so many organisations undertaking building projects right now, we have been hit by rising construction costs. Despite our best efforts, we are now $13,000 short of the amount needed to complete the first enclosure.
The good news is that we are close and the builder is ready to start.
We know $13,000 is a significant amount but when a community comes together, it becomes achievable. We need to raise the $13,000 before the end of July. I know this seems a lot – and it is – but our experience is that the best chance we have of reaching this target is with donations of $100 or more or any amount that feels right for you. Every donation will help bridge the gap and bring this essential facility to life ahead of our summer peak period.
What is the main issue this will address and who is it impacting?
Hospital treatment and intensive care of wildlife admitted to the Hospital is only half the picture. Medium and longer term rehabilitation is fundamental to a successful return to the wild. The Hospital plans to build a series of outdoor rehabilitation enclosures. These enclosures will allow patients who have undergone medical or surgical treatments to regain physical condition, acclimatise to current weather conditions and practice natural behaviours before release.
Our first enclosure building will impact multiple rehabilitator organisations and Carers by removing pressure on them to house species they are not equipped to house and ensure Hospital staff maximise positive outcomes. This enclosure isn't simply a building as it will help us provide better care, improve recovery outcomes and ensure more wildlife can return to the wild where they belong.
You have already shown that you care deeply about Australia's wildlife through our past appeals and your generous donations. If NRWH has ever touched your heart, we would be grateful if you would consider making a contribution towards completing this project.
Together, we can get this over the line.
Thank you for standing with us and helping sustain our mission of caring for native wildlife.
