EOFY Book-a-thon

The early years are critical for brain development with 90% of their brain deveolping in the first 5 years.

A healthy and positive start to life provides the foundation for all future learning, behaviour and health. Exposure to books is an essential developmental building block for children 0-5.

United Way SA continues to focus on early literacy to ensure all children have the best chance to thrive and reach their full potential.

The Imagination Library is the ideal resource to foster reading in the home which is essential to start school ready to learn. In 2020, within 6 months of receiving the Imagination Library:

  • Caregivers spending quality time as a family with books increased from 4% to 81%.
  • Children were 6 times more likely to initiate self-directed book time.
  • 58% of caregivers reported the IL increased the child’s vocabulary.

Your support will enable United Way SA to continue to support hundreds of South Australian children with monthly book packs along with parent resources sent directly to the homes of vulnerable children, so please donate to our End of Year appeal today.

A generous donation of just $10 will provide the gift of a book pack sent to a vulnerable child today.

Literacy is one life skills everyone needs, without it a person's life becomes limited.
