Help our kids get back to Camp! 

2021 has been an incredibly difficult year for everyone, but especially so for our kids who were already doing it tough! 

The extensive and difficult Lockdown has had an extremely adverse impact on kids’ mental health and wellbeing – the extent of which is still unknown. What we do know is that camp is the perfect antidote to isolation and distress caused by COVID! We create safe spaces where children and young people can thrive and belong, equipping them with the strength and skills to overcome adversity and trauma.

Our camps empower kids experiencing significant and complex disadvantage to reach their individual potential (whatever that may be) and have lots of FUN! 

Kids like *Tahlia, who is 12 years old and lives with her mother and two siblings, one of whom is in palliative care. Tahlia is a young carer, taking on a variety of tasks that would be unfamiliar to many of her peers, made all the more challenging because she also has autism, ADHD, ODD, anxiety and depression. Her family is close knit and loving but face many significant challenges, including financial distress, social isolation, multiple disabilities and chronic health conditions. 

ERCNSW is one of the only support services this family is linked in with.

For Tahlia, camp is her safe space. It is a chance for some much-needed respite from her caring role, a chance to connect with peers, build important social skills and have fun. Above all, she relishes the opportunity to talk with peers and feel heard by supportive and empathetic young adult volunteers. After many months of lockdown, Tahlia cannot wait to get back to camp ASAP!

Tahlia is one of over a hundred kids who missed out on camp this year because of COVID. 

So this December we’re asking you to donate and help our kids get back to camp! We’re aiming to raise $7,000 – that will cover the additional costs associated with making camp COVID Safe for up to 15 kids (and as many volunteers to support them) for a week they'll never forget.

We'll make sure that every single cent of your donation goes straight to supporting kids who need it most.
