Every rescue starts with a journey.

Wildlife rescuers regularly travel long distances – often late at night, in extreme weather, and at their own expense – to reach injured, sick, or orphaned animals. From roadside koalas to displaced joeys, each call for help means fuel in the tank and a commitment to go.

WDRR and Wildlife Empire are working together to establish a dedicated Fuel Fund to directly support volunteer rescuers covering large service areas. Rising fuel costs mean that many rescuers personally absorb significant expenses simply to respond to animals in need.

This campaign will help ensure that rescuers can:
• Respond quickly to urgent calls
• Travel safely across large regional areas
• Transport wildlife to carers and veterinary treatment
• Continue providing vital support to local communities
• Reduce the financial burden on volunteers

Some rescues require hundreds of kilometres of travel in a single day. Others require repeated trips between rescue sites, carers, and veterinary clinics.

By contributing to this fuel fund, you are directly helping rescuers stay on the road and ensuring wildlife receives help when it is needed most.
