We are a small but significant community centre based in the heart of St Kilda providing community meals, food/material relief, and free or low cost socially inclusive activities to a diverse range of people many of whom are isolated by age, disability, mental illness or the long-term effect of drug or alcohol abuse and more recently financial hardship. We aim to provide an environment where people from different backgrounds can develop mutually supportive relationships leading to better understanding and acceptance of diversity while facilitating social engagement, inclusion, and resilience.
The Centre relies heavily on donations from generous sponsors and businesses to operate. We receive no ongoing funding and are required to submit grant applications in the hope of success which is never guaranteed especially in the current economic climate. The church provides our building at a reduced rent but offers no other assistance. The number of individuals and families accessing our food relief services has been gradually increasing since COVID, however since the beginning of the year, the rise has been so significant that we can no longer provide what we consider adequate services. Currently over 1,500 people are approaching us for help each month. Please help us by donating - every $1 counts and provides a meal for someone in need.
