In Galiwin’ku, the struggle against domestic violence now faces a new and relentless adversary: a cost-of-living crisis that is leaving families in the dark. We must confront a stark and brutal reality where the choice between electricity and food can ignite conflict, shattering lives and devastating families.

When a family cannot afford a pre-paid power card, their home is plunged into darkness. And in the darkness, we see a rise in family violence. At Galiwin’ku Women’s Space, we know that providing essentials is a powerful form of prevention. For 12 years, our Yolŋu-led services have been a lifeline, and today that means keeping the lights on and putting food on the table to relieve the immense pressure on families.

We urgently need your help to provide this critical support. Your donation can supply a power card to keep a home safe and bright or provide a box of basic groceries to feed a family. You can help break a vicious cycle before it begins.

Together, we can end family violence by reinforcing the strength of Yolŋu people and culture.
