About this cause

Earlier this year Professor Pasi Sahlberg, Professor of Educational Leadership at the University of Melbourne, was interviewed at The Venny as part of the ABC’s Role of a Lifetime series. His message to parents was simple, "children need an hour of play a day".

Professor Sahlberg said, “Australian kids to do get enough play time and that lack of playtime is one of the reasons there are more mental health issues among young people today”.

Risky play supports children to be physically healthy, emotionally resilient, and is good for social development and cognitive growth. In today’s environment where screen time is a regular part of children’s lives, this is more important than ever.

If you need more convincing of the benefits of play you can view the Role of a Lifetime segment here The Role Of A Lifetime: Risky play - ABC Education

Donate to The Venny today so that we can continue to provide children and young people with access to free unstructured play.

Giving the gift of play builds confident and resilient children.
