Why your Donation is So Important
Research shows that children experiencing disadvantage (in crisis accomodation, family violence and/or poverty) are more than twice as likely to have poor reading skills and lower levels of home reading and preschool attendance.
Children who begin school with lower literacy skills will start behind and stay behind. Poor literacy has a lifelong impact leading to poorer education, health and employment outcomes. Early literacy starts at home.

Two Ways to Make a Difference!
For as little as $10, you can support Whitehorse Manningham Libraries (WML) to close the gap in literacy and provide families and children in crisis to rebuild their lives. Our aim is to remove barriers, physical and perceived, to library services for people experiencing disadvantage.
There are 2 options to donate:
Who will Receive the Gifts?
Your donations will gift each child in need, delivery of a special literacy and learning resources library bag containing high quality, age appropriate, reading materials through a partnership with Maternal Child Health in Whitehorse and Manningham as well as FVREE (Free From Domestic Violence). The fundraising for the appeal will be during the Christmas period and will be distributed throughout the year.

How will Program be Funded?
100% of the funds raised will go towards delivering meaningful engagement, learning and literacy initiatives in consultation with local community partners. All donated funds will solely be used to deliver Give the Gift of Reading program.
