About this cause

Global Village Foundation Bali (GVFBali) is a registered Indonesian charity (Yayasan) based in North Bali since 2013. GVFB work supports those living with severe disabilities and the disadvantaged: those who don't have access to the basic necessities of life such as healthcare, livable housing, clean drinking water, or education and attendant career prospects.

GVFB (Australia) has been established to raise funds to support the work of GVFB and to provide assurance to Australian donors that their (tax-deductible) contributions are 100% applied to delivering the charity outcomes on the ground in Indonesia through GVFBali. We are 100% volunteer-based. No administration fees or overheads.

Global Village Foundation Bali programs deliver holistic care around three interconnected themes:

  • Mobility Aids
    • Free adaptive, all-terrain wheelchairs for disabled children (currently the leading NGO supplier of free fitted wheelchairs for poor, disabled people, distributing over 1000 free wheelchairs annually).
  • Education & Training
    • School sponsorship programs for disadvantaged children to attend elementary, middle and senior school, and we hope to offer university scholarships in the future
    • Employment and training opportunities for the disadvantaged though social enterprises. An example is the GVFBali Kafe in North Bali, a fully functioning and successful bistro where all the Balinese staff are deaf
    • fostering relatinships between Australian and Balinese schools for mutual benefit and learning
  • Healthcare
    • Water filters for impoverished families to access clean, safe drinking water; food support for the malnourished and hungry
    • Assistance for the sick with medication costs and transportation to medical facilities if required
    • Essential home improvements for low-income families include toilets, electricity, and disabled access facilities
