Every year thousands of greyhounds have nowhere to go once they are no longer useful for racing. The lucky ones are rehomed by the racing industry's rehoming program but so many more have no options.
Greyhound Safety Net Inc is a Victorian based charity which has been operating since 2006, rescuing and rehoming greyhounds no longer required by the racing industry. To date we have rehomed over 700 greyhounds, and the numbers of greyhounds we save are increasing every year. GSN prides itself on providing a 'safety net' for greyhounds that otherwise might never have the opportunity to find a home. While we choose greyhounds for rehoming from those that are friendly to and safe around small dogs (as they will encounter these in the community) we also give priority to those that might have even more limited options, such as those with health issues or the very timid.
With veterinary (de-sexing, microchipping, dentals, vaccinations, worm and flea treatments) and other costs, every greyhound costs us on average nearly $500 (net after the adoption fee) to rehome. As a volunteer group relying solely on our fund-raising efforts, donations provide an essential contribution to saving these beautiful dogs' lives.
Greyhound Safety Net Inc is registered with Consumer Affairs as an incorporated association and is registered by the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission as a charity with Deductible Gift Recipient status. Any donation you kindly make will help save another greyhound, and donations over $2 are tax deductible.
