Guildhouse is a not-for-profit organisation that has been quietly working behind some of South Australia's leading creative professionals for 50 years. Since our beginnings in 1966 our organisation has supported some of the most ambitious makers, designers and creative practitioners in our state.
Our vision is for creative professionals to have sustainable careers and for the contribution they make to our rich cultural environment to be recognised and valued by our community.
Our purpose is to engage with and support visual artists, craftspeople and designers with services that are affordable and relevant. We also develop and promote opportunities that take them out of their traditional studio practice and place them in environments to enrich their practice through collaboration, research and experimentation and develop new work that is presented to new and diverse audiences.

Guildhouse, collaborates with creative institutions, businesses and the broader community to promote contemporary visual artists, craftspeople and designers. Through our projects, professional development programs, mentorships and events Guildhouse is dedicated to supporting and promoting sustainable contemporary practice for both makers and their audiences. Last year our program of workshops, artist talks and information sessions was attended by almost 900 creative professionals and exhibitions resulting from Guildhouse projects were seen by a total audience of more than 380,000 people.
"I am gaining new perspectives for my craft practice, this mentorship is invaluable - priceless" Mentorship participant, 2015
"The professional support and ongoing open resources and artist opportunities that I have experienced through Guildhouse has undoubtedly allowed me to confidently take the first major step into my professional arts practise" Lisa King, visual artist
"Removed from my regular pattern of working daily in my studio, the immersion at AGSA on such an intense regular basis was extremely" rewarding. The variety of spaces the observation of people viewing the artworks that this allowed produced opportunities for images & new ideas that I had not anticipated. Not only was this valuable for research & development of new work for The Collections Project but I feel the large resource of images, sketches, small propositional works & writings, that I now have, is rich with possibilities for many ongoing works well into the future." Deirdre But-Husaim, The Collections Project 2014, Art Gallery of South Australia
