For research and development of a winch training platform to mitigate risk factors. The winch training platform (winch simulator) will enable us to continue training crew without the use of the helicopter winch, thus minimising cost and wear and tear on the aircraft. The winch simulator will enable us to produce more realistic emergency situations in a safer environment, hence far better outcomes on our winching missions will be achieved by making it safer environment for our rescue crew and patient.

The training facility will also allow the Service to become the training benchmark for winch training.

We are a community based search and rescue helicopter service. Due to its vertical rescue capabilities it is able to rescue individuals in the most hostile and dangerous environs that conventional methods cannot achieve. With constant training we can continue to provide the community with state of the art search and rescue services.

How will the funds be used?

  • Obtain a quotation for the winch training platform (winch simulator)
  • Purchase of materials
  • Building and maintaining the simulator
