On 30 March this year, something quietly extraordinary happened at the Abbotsford Convent
Her Place Women’s Museum opened, and we celebrated Australia’s first interactive digital map, showcasing stories of outstanding women in Victoria’s public places, Finding Her.
Families came. And a son stood in front of a metre-high poster of his late mother — Carmel McKenna OAM — and said: “It was really, really touching, I wasn’t sure whether Mum would get much of a mention.” — Michael McKenna, son of Carmel McKenna OAM
Over 100 women are on the map — 25 added this year.
There can be no history without her story.
Will you help us tell more women’s stories?
Before 30 June, will you make a tax-deductible gift to Her Place?
Your donation will directly fund:
A gift of $100 funds the acquisition of books and resources. A gift of $1,000 directly funds the research behind one new Finding Her biography. Every dollar is tax deductible before 30 June.
If you’d like a deeper, ongoing commitment to Her Place, our Patron Program is now open — from $100 a year as a Friend of Her Place to our Gold Patron level. Find out more at herplacemuseum.org.au.
But first — if you can — please make a gift this June 30.
Her Place is here. Women are waiting. We just need your help to tell our stories.
