It is extremely hard to conceive the enormity of the global wildlife trade and the cruelty and suffering that it causes to hundreds of different species. The illegal trade implicates almost every country in the world and is thought to be worth many tens of billions of dollars annually, increasingly becoming a part of international organised crime activities and therefore all the more frightening and all the more dangerous.

You can help us control this trade in the most direct fashion possible, by ensuring through HSI, that the money needed to fight these poachers, to weed out corrupt officials, to help enforcement agencies catch and jail the perpetrators, reaches the right people in the right places at the right times.

HSI is already supporting anti-poaching and anti-wildlife trade programs in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Indian, Vietnam and Indonesia (Bali, Sumatra and Kalimantan), covering eleven projects, and in these places we have helped catch poachers in the act, buy guns for rangers, protect animals in the wild, and carry out intelligence activities thwarting illegal traders.

This plea is to help us boost emergency funding to key programs in Africa, India and S. E. Asia, so that we can save as many animal's lives as possible! Our anti-poaching efforts to date have had some amazing results and you will see from the enclosed reports how the physical presence of armed patrols dramatically reduces the losses.
