About this cause

Indigenous Community Television (ICTV) has a long and important history as an Indigenous-led media organisation. It emerged from remote community media initiatives, including EVTV (Ernabella Video TV), driven by the need for Aboriginal communities to maintain control over their own storytelling and representation in media.

ICTV was established to ensure remote Aboriginal communities have access to culturally relevant television and a platform to share their stories in their own voices. From its early beginnings in community video production and local broadcasting initiatives, ICTV has grown into a vital hub for Indigenous storytelling, language preservation, and community-led production across remote Australia.

Today, we are working toward an important next step in that journey — establishing a more permanent “forever home” for ICTV.

We are creating a dedicated donation fund to help develop ICTV’s infrastructure and assets, enabling us to better serve our communities and remote audiences. This includes building the capacity for a central media and production space that can host film and media industry activity, support local and national productions, and provide office, studio, and practical facilities for creators.

This space would also allow us to expand training opportunities, attachments, and hands-on experience in the media and film industry — helping build a strong pipeline of skilled Aboriginal practitioners working alongside industry in a shared, collaborative environment. This is about creating real opportunity in Central Australia and strengthening the local creative economy through access, presence, and participation.

At its heart, ICTV remains focused on its core mission: supporting remote communities by ensuring Aboriginal people have a strong and independent voice. A voice to research, write, produce, and share stories that reflect culture, truth, creativity, and lived experience. This matters because representation matters. It ensures communities are seen accurately, heard authentically, and able to shape how their stories are told.

Every donation — big or small — will directly strengthen ICTV’s operations, expand our programs, and grow our capacity to share Aboriginal history, culture, and storytelling at scale.

Our people are the world’s oldest storytellers, and ICTV exists to honour that legacy while creating space for it to grow in new and powerful ways.
