We are the largest refugee support service in Queensland. We routinely screen 200 - 400 new arrivals each year and then continue to manage their care for decades. We deliver one in seven consultations with an interpreter and one in six through bilingual doctors. It costs our practice $18,700 per year just in reception time ordering interpreters. Medicare does not recognise this cost.
We partner with many community organisations to develop social care and wellness initiatives to support people who have arrived as refugees, address their complex health needs, and support intergration through health literacy programs, linkage to services, and access to integrated care including mental health support.
