Volunteering for Peace

$

We all want peace in the world. Presently we are witnessing yet another year without peace. Conflict, struggle, injustice, discrimination, isolation, environmental degradation and destruction threaten peace between peoples. Responding to these problems is vital to our shared global future.

Peace is about co-operation; it is about understanding. If we don't understand our fellow human beings; prejudice, hatred and war will follow. The evidence is there in Syria, Ukraine, Iraq; to name a few

What do we do?

We promote peace by getting volunteers together to work on community projects in Australia and overseas that bring together people of different race, ideology, nationality and age so that they can understand one another.

We are a self-funded branch of Service Civil International, that since the 1930's has been doing this work and were awarded the title of 'Messenger of Peace' by the United Nations in 1987, in acknowledgement of its efforts.

Some examples of our projects where we place volunteers like you and your friends are:

Australia
  • A holiday camp for people with disabilities and their carer's in Breakaway, Central Coast
  • Organising a Community Arts Festival at CERES, Melbourne
  • Creek Habitat restoration and Environmental workshops with primary school children at Taralga
  • Manual work in School grounds and Classroom assistance at Shalom Aboriginal College, Townsville

Overseas
  • School Reconstruction work after the earthquake in Nepal
  • Support children with disability in Vietnam
  • Saving Sea Turtles in Mexico
  • Helping a Children's Learning Centre in Kenya

We are a non-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers and rely on funds to keep us going, expanding and promoting peace.
