About this cause

Miles for Meals – Going the Distance for Our Community
55 hours. At least 200 miles. One very important cause.

What would you do to help put food on the table for someone doing it tough?

For local endurance runner Jarrod Burke, the answer is simple. Run. And keep running.

Starting at 8am on Friday and finishing at 3pm on Sunday, Jarrod will take on an incredible 55-hour endurance challenge through Echuca and Moama, aiming to cover at least 200 miles (322 kilometres).

But Miles for Meals is about so much more than running.

It's about community, compassion and making sure local people have somewhere to turn when life gets tough.

Why this cause means so much
For Jarrod, this challenge is personal.

In 2012, after his business failed, Jarrod found himself facing financial hardship and an uncertain future. He remembers sitting on his front veranda with his last $2 coin, wondering how he was going to provide for his wife and young son until his next pay cheque arrived.

It's a feeling he's never forgotten.

Years later, during a visit to Echuca Neighbourhood House, Jarrod saw firsthand the work being done to support local families struggling to make ends meet.

Seeing the food storage facilities and hearing about the constant challenge of keeping enough food on the shelves brought those memories flooding back.

He knew he wanted to do something.

Miles for Meals was born from that moment.

Supporting Echuca Neighbourhood House
Every week, Echuca Neighbourhood House supports hundreds of local people through food relief, community meals and practical assistance.

Our Food Bank provides essential groceries to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, while our community meal programs and Mobile Food Pantry help make food more accessible across Echuca, Moama and surrounding communities.

With the cost of living continuing to place enormous pressure on households, demand for our services remains high.

Behind every food hamper is a person, a family or a household trying to get through a difficult time.

And sometimes, a little help can make an enormous difference.

Where will your donation go?

All donations made through this fundraiser will support the food relief work of Echuca Neighbourhood House.

Your generosity will help us purchase essential groceries, replenish food supplies and continue providing practical support to people experiencing food insecurity.

Whether you donate $5, $50 or $500, every contribution helps us continue doing what we do best – looking after our local community.

Let's get behind Jarrod!

Over 55 hours, Jarrod will push himself physically and mentally to raise awareness and funds for those doing it tough.

We're inviting local businesses, schools, community groups and individuals to get behind Miles for Meals.

You don't have to run 200 miles to make a difference.

Make a donation, share the fundraiser and help us turn Jarrod's miles into meals.

Together, we can make sure more local people have food on their tables and know their community is behind them.

Local people feeding local people.
