Indigenous Stolen Generations Support

Aboriginal Boys Stolen from their Families

Did you know that for over 40 years from 1924 until its closure in 1970 that Aboriginal boys were forcibly removed from their families and taken to Kinchela Boys Home by the NSW government? The experience for these boys was highly traumatising including daily emotional, physical and sexual abuse and left long lasting scars for the men as adults.

Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation (KBHAC) was established to help restore and reconstruct the identity, dignity and integrity of these Aboriginal men by developing a healing model that addresses the experiences of traumatic grief and loss, violence, sexual / physical/ psychological abuse and the struggles with identity which continue to impact the men in their lives today.  We also work with families and descendants who have been affected by the intergenerational trauma.

KBHAC is led by the men who survived the home and peer support is integral to the healing model. “We know our pain” is something the survivors often say.

How will the funds be used?
Funds will be used to support KBHAC's healing activities. The not for profit organisation is working towards the establishment of a museum and healing centre in the Kinchela area and we need your support to make this vision a reality.  Ultimately KBHAC endeavours to diversify its income sources and, with support from sponsors like yourself, become financially viable and self-sustaining.

KBHAC believes its proven management record and growing experience in providing a successful model of healing for members of the Stolen Generations and their descendants demonstrates it is worthy of your support.
