Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation

Indigenous Stolen Generations Support

$
Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation (KBHAC) is a not-for-profit organisation established to help restore and reconstruct the identity, dignity and integrity of Aboriginal men who were forcibly removed from their families by the NSW Government and put into the Kinchela Boys Home. The Home operated for over 40 years, holding Stolen Generations boys.

With its partners and supporters, KBHAC has developed a model of healing that addresses the experiences of traumatic grief and loss, violence, sexual / physical/ psychological abuse and struggles with identity which continue to impact on the former KBH inmates and the intergenerational traumas the Kinchela Men's descendants struggle with. The KBH Men guide the work KBHAC undertakes. Their goal is to create a KBHAC Healing Centre.

How will the funds be used?
Funds will be used to support KBHAC's core operational activities. This includes rent, utilities, maintenance of vehicles, insurances, IT and promotional material, annual audit, project management services and part-time staff. Limited government funding and project based funding has meant KBHAC has relied heavily on under-resourced staff and the good will of Aboriginal and non-Indigenous Australians to help build its future sustainability. This is not viable in the long term. Ultimately KBHAC endeavours to diversify its income sources and, with support from sponsors like yourself, become financially viable and self-sustaining.

KBHAC believes its proven management record and growing experience in providing a successful model of healing for members of the Stolen Generations and their descendants demonstrates it is worthy of your support.
