About this cause

The Breakfast Program exists to provide those struggling most in the community of Knox with:

1. Delicious and healthy food four mornings per week.  So everyone can start their day with a full stomach.
2. Improved access to local services and support networks.  Through relationships of trust, we assist guests link into the supports they need.
3. Stronger connections to the community - building social cohesion and resilience.  Our guests and breakfast community are empowered to support each other.

In just over 3 years, the Knox Infolink Community Breakfast Program has provided more than 21,000 meals serving 949 guests at least one breakfast meal and provided opportunities to build their community connection through social conversation and engaging activities.

The Breakfast Program is reaching those who need support the most in the Knox community including: 

• Over 120 people experiencing homelessness or sleeping rough,
• 230 people experiencing financial distress,
• 140 people who shared their mental health issues,
• 130 people who disclosed their struggles with addictions (drug, alcohol and gambling).

The Breakfast Program is effective in building relationships of trust, listening to those doing it tough and facilitating them to engage with the supports they need to move out of poverty including: 
Providing over 300 guests with informal support, such as extra food, clothing or informal conversation about issues they are facing. 
211 guests have been supported with formal short term case work and other formal supports with Knox Infolink. 
130 guests have been linked with external supports, such as Centrelink, Police, Legal Aid, Housing support, Each Mental Health and Financial support.
