Advance Diversity Services’ Learn to Drive Program gives newly arrived migrants and refugees the keys to freedom!
While driving lessons aren’t part of the humanitarian settlement support package provided to refugees once they arrive in Australia, for a new migrant or refugee, being able to drive can mean the difference between successfully settling into a new community or being isolated.
Having a licence gives people independence. It also opens up opportunities for employment.
Your donation to ADS’s Learn to Drive Program facilitates:
· subsidised driving instructor hours
· access to volunteer driving mentors
· an ADS vehicle for supervised practice, and
· a TAFE course on road rules and safety
Learning to drive can be prohibitively expensive but having a driver’s licence frees new arrivals to get to job interviews, English classes, doctor’s appointments and more. It’s an important step in their journey towards economic independence and active engagement in their new communities.
Donate now to give new arrivals the keys to freedom through our Learn to Drive Program.
