Sharon* is a single mum with 3 children aged 8, 6 and 4.  2021 was a tough year for her.  Her marriage fell apart due to domestic and family violence and stress from job loss and resulting mental health challenges.  She still co-parents with her ex, but has her kids the majority of the time and will have them Christmas day.  She has been struggling to find work and might get short contracts but nothing sustainable.  She will struggle to provide Christmas presents and a nice meal for her kids on Christmas day as she is finding it hard to make ends meet.  The Logan East Community Neighbourhood Association help people like Sharon* throughout the year through our Emergency Relief and Loans programs.  We put together a database of clients we know who are and have been doing it really tough this year and we work very hard to get the resources together to provide them a hamper that includes age appropriate toys for the kids, clothes, handbag.  Our Christmas hampers bring great joy and hope to all the recipients and hamper day is an emotional day for all of us.
We cannot pull this huge feat off without the support of community, as we are a struggling community centre. Your donation will allow us to give a generouse hamper at christmas time to individuals and families who have had a really tough time this year and could do with some hope and joy as we head into the holidays and the new year.  We need to gather 300 of particular items and a range of toys for different ages for the kids.  $30 will pay for two child's christmas present.  $50 will pay for 50 of a tinned food item for hampers  $100 will buy 5 christmas presents for children in need $500  will pay for 250 of a staple hamper item such as tinned fruit.
