About this cause

Link Vision was founded initially as Aid for the Blind Qld in 1968 by the Rev Elsie Dodd and her husband Gordon.

They saw a need to house people who had No or Low Vision in a safe and inclusive environment, one where people could share common experiences, and importantly live independently.

Over almost 30 years Link Vision's accomodation complex in Fairfield Queensland was established in 4 stages, and it is always fully occupied.

During its evolution Link Vision identified the need to assist (at first) people with No or Low Vision with keyboard and computer skills. After humble beginnings, the Club is now reaching almost 100 children weekly, has been extended to people with other disabilities, and Link Vision now has 4 mentors (all of whom have No or Low Vision). The service is designed specifically to enhance people's educational and ultimatley vocational propects, and the Club is making a real difference.

Mentoring is conducted in schools and Link Vision do not charge for the service.

Demand for the Computer Club continues to grow however Link Vision cannot fund future growth without financial assitance.
