Domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) continues to deeply impact the lives of many in Tennant Creek. “Love Shouldn’t Hurt: Stand Up, Speak Up” is a strengths-based, community-led campaign that brings together service providers, local leaders, and residents to take a visible and active stand against violence in all its forms.
The campaign centres the Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) model—recognising that healing from violence is interconnected with culture, community, land, family, and spirit. It draws on local knowledge and First Nations-led approaches to foster long-term change grounded in strength, not shame.
This campaign also calls on community members to move beyond awareness and refuse to be bystanders. It encourages real, safe and meaningful action—whether that means checking in with someone, calling out violent attitudes, seeking help, or offering support. Change happens when communities act, not just observe.
