Help LGI write the next chapter of PIECES
2025 marks two decades of PIECES—LGI’s annual commissioning program that champions independent choreographers to develop and premiere bold new short works.
What began as Pieces for Small Spaces, with five artists presenting 10-minute works in a room above a garage, has grown into a vital platform for independent dance. In 2024, PIECES reached its biggest stage yet, through a major collaboration with University of Melbourne Arts and Culture (UMAC), and a season at the Union Theatre.
Now, we’re looking to the future and asking for your support to shape what comes next.
We’re raising funds to expand PIECES so choreographers can dream even bigger and:
Your support brings more dancers into the room and more collaborators by each choreographer’s side, creating paid opportunities for independent artists across disciplines.
To celebrate 20 years of PIECES, every donation will be doubled up to $20,000! Thanks to generous matched giving your donation will go twice as far in supporting the next generation of choreographers through the program.
Every donation will help us:
All donations above $2 are tax deductible. Donations above $100 will be acknowledged on LGI’s website and other platforms (unless you prefer to remain anonymous).

Commissioning Circle
Another way to support LGI is by joining our Commissioning Circle, a committed group of individuals who give $2,000+ annually. Commissioning Circle members receive invitations to LGI events throughout the year, including opening nights and work-in-progress showings.
